Prospective Suppliers
Once you have completed registration, you will receive confirmation acknowledging that your information has been added to our prospective supplier list.
ALLETE’s purchasing team will have access to this system to search for prospective suppliers as opportunities become available. Please note, completing the registration does not guarantee business with ALLETE.
Bidding
To be considered for bidding opportunities with ALLETE’s subsidiaries, your company needs to be registered as a prospective or active supplier in our system. All bidding opportunities are housed in our Oracle iSupplier system, suppliers will be invited to bids directly by members of the purchasing team.

Procurement best practices
Suppliers are required to participate in bid and procurement processes in accordance with best practices. Best practices include communicating only with named ALLETE representatives during contract negotiations or bid evaluation and refraining from attempts to influence ALLETE employees or senior managers in order to obtain work.
Supplier Safety Requirements
The safety and security of employees, contractors and visitors is the utmost importance to ALLETE. Suppliers will be held responsible for the actions of their employees and any sub-contractor employees. All applicable rules, laws, regulations and ALLETE policies shall be observed.
Contractor training is mandatory for all contractors who perform services for ALLETE and its subsidiaries and who wish to remain on our bidders list. This training needs to be completed on an annual basis for current, active suppliers.

ALLETE continues to expand its supplier base to better reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
To be considered diverse, a business must be at least 51% owned, controlled, operated and managed by one or more individuals in the below classifications:
- Disabled
- LGBTQ+
- Minority
- Veteran
- Women
In addition, ALLETE also recognizes the following categories as diverse businesses:
- Historically underutilized business zone (HUBZone) business
- Small Disadvantaged Business
Certifications
Certification through a third-party organization confirms that a business is diverse. ALLETE encourages businesses to obtain certification through one of the organizations listed below:
